The South takes up the largest portion of the United States, stretching from the Atlantic Ocean to the middle of the country. The South consists of Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.

The online retailer, Amazon, has two grocery services that take EBT cards. Amazon Pantry delivers your online orders to your home, while Amazon Fresh gives you the option to pick up your orders at locations in select cities. Amazon Fresh is available in big cities like Atlanta, Baltimore, Dallas, Miami, and Houston. Unfortunately, both online options are not available if you live in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, or South Carolina.

Where to Use EBT in the South

The country-wide chain, Walmart, lets you use your EBT card for groceries online and in person.

You can pick up your groceries from your local store curbside. However, you cannot order online using SNAP benefits in Arkansas or Louisiana.

If you live in the southern region of the United States, Kroger is one of the most popular stores that allows you to use your EBT card to pay for food. Other affiliates of Kroger include QFC and Fry’s Food Stores, which also accept SNAP benefits. You can use your card in person at every Kroger store.

However, you cannot order online if you live in Oklahoma.

Ingles is another southern grocery chain that accepts EBT cards in person at stores in Alabama, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. At this time, the chain does not accept online purchases with an EBT card.

In Texas, you can use your benefits at H-E-B grocery stores. A few dozen locations accept online orders for curbside pickup.
